For as long as I can remember, I’ve always had a passion for good music. Many people are inspired through music by various mechanisms. Whether it be the lyrics, the similarities to personal experiences, or the melody/chorus/bridge, this is what makes music so great.
For me, it’s music related to dancing. I’m not great at dancing by any means; however, I definitely get inspired when I see someone break it down. I’m not talking about breaking it down ballroom style like the waltz or the tango, I’m talking hip hop (though I’d definitely be down to take ballroom dance lessons if anyone is interested, and when I mean anyone, I mean hot ladies). When I say hip hop, many people associate that with the ‘grind on your partner’ type dancing you see at the club, which I certainly do not mean either.
More so, I am referring to the free-formed dancing you see in music videos by the likes of Marques Houston, Omarion, and Chris Brown or in movies such as You Got Served, Step Up 2 The Streets, and Stomp the Yard. Even if the artist’s song is below par or the acting is corny as hell with yawning storylines (which they generally do), you just can’t help but admit the dancing itself is amazing.
So why do I favor hip hop over any other form? A huge part of it is probably the fact that I’ve grown up on that type of music; however, I can’t help but be awe inspired the rhythmic energy and influence it brings to dancing. Call me crazy, but some day I’d like to rent out one of those rooms at 24 Hour Fitness with a few friends, turn up the music, and just dance it out. It’s definitely a great form of stress relief.
The following are just a few of my favorite music videos/movie clips and scenes that I’ve one time or another repeated like no other to try to get a move down. Enjoy, and maybe next time I see you, we can battle it out!
Omarion doin it.
The famous Circles dance.
Sucka, you got served!
The 1:16 minute mark is nuts.

Great post! Dancing is a definite form of art no matter what kind. Hip Hop is one of my favorites! and this reminds of my little sister who loves to dance hip hop and mastered the circles dance as well as all the other famous dance moves.
